Johnny Maestro

Johnny Maestro has died in his battle against cancer. He was 70.

Les Cauchi, a friend, said Johnnyo died late Wednesday in Florida. His last residence was in Cape Coral, Fla.

He began his career in the late 1950s with The Crests. Maestro also joined  The Del-Satins, local group in New York. It merged with a Long Island band, The Rhythm Method, and the The Brooklyn Bridge of Johnny Maestro in 1968.

The Brooklyn Bridge performed that song on “The Ed Sullivan Show.” Their hits included “Blessed is the Rain,” ”Welcome Me Love” and “You’ll Never Walk Alone.”
